Land of Rifts and Echoes

Ria is smart, perceptive, and has a knack for figuring out how to make things. Her greatest passion is cooking, which she's really good at, but she's not too bad at other crafts either. They just never hold her interest for very long. Besides this she always seems to know what her twin is thinking, feeling or doing, but most people chalk it up to being a 'twin thing'.

As half of a set, Ria is the more emotional, excitable and impulsive of the twins. And by 'more' I mean enough for the both of them. She is bouncy, bubbly, temperamental, whimsical, and quick to move on from one shiny thing to the next. Her tantrums are things of legend. She screams and swears more than you'd think her capable of, she throws things and breaks things and flips things and then she storms from the room. It's like she has no control - actually, it's exactly like that. She doesn't. On the upside, while she may fly off the handle, she never holds grudges, and if she's been hurt it's generally over and done with once she's cried about it. There's just hardly any way for her to hold back what she's feeling which makes her a very open person as far as emotions are concerned, but she's also luckily nice and optimistic as a whole.

Her behaviour isn't always altogether reasonable, and she is prone to daydreaming or making up stories or plans simply from a passing thought and then discarding them again just as quickly, even if they're as far from realism as it gets. In short, she comes across as a bit of an airhead, even though she has a good memory and usually only needs to be told things once. She will always remember every friend's birthdate, face, name, favourite colour and tv show, but she might get sidetracked and forget she was invited to the party. Naturally she tends to be a bit messy, though she insists it's not disorder, just creative organizing. By nature, Ria is active, proactive, restless and impatient, never content with an approach of 'wait and see'.

If you look at underlying issues though, there are a few things that trouble her, cheerful nature aside. Ria honestly doesn't like herself very much. She doesn't consciously know she's only half of someone, but she knows her own flaws, and her emotional nature leads to internal conflicts as well. She wants to make sure people are happy, and she wants to be happy herself. Yet at the same time, she knows and gets incredibly frustrated with the fact that just doesn't always happen. She knows, or rather, feels she's somehow lacking, aware of how irrational she can be, and not liking it one bit. The inhibitions are missing with her a lot of the time, and where others would stop themselves, she can't and doesn't know how. She seeks Ira's company compulsively, considering herself incomplete and intrinsically connected to her sister, which, looking at it from an outside perspective, isn't exactly healthy. Half the time she forgets there's two of them, speaking of the both of them as of one person. Any server player will find their room full of photographs, all of which contain both of them - but always one of them will have her face scratched off or ripped off or sharpie'd over.
Ria also doesn't like current fashion. She just doesn't. What she liked about their travelling the world with Aunt Pololanik was that they saw different places, and sometimes the models were nice, but Ria openly goes against her Aunt and her fashionable-ness. She wears whatever clothes she can find and refuses to put on any shoes other than boldly coloured boots that never really match anything. Well, excepting the days when her and Ira put on costumes for play-pretend and fun and pictures, but that, too, is a bit of rebellion there.

Instead, she does care about Things That Happen. Ria likes history, if it's recreating historical things or reading about what happened then or watching Ira experiment with Greek Fire in the kitchen. Keeping track of the news falls into this category as well, but that's the simple matter of letting a radio run in the kitchen as they experiment/cook/bake/craft/DO THINGS.

Ria and her sister, Ira, were raised by their fashion photographer Aunt, which meant they spent the first few years of their lives mostly in hotels and at fashion shows all over the globe up until they reached school age, when she purchased a nice home just outside of London to place them at so that they could start into the joys of compulsory education. As much as Ria enjoyed the travelling and missed being in a different country more or less every other week, she was happy having time and space to share with just her twin. Schooling was nice to meet all sorts of new people besides!

In the years since, they’ve turned their home into a twin-friendly paradise of glass walls and transparent curtains -- and occasionally set fire to places which they then had to patch up before the Aunt got back from her current trip. They were usually pretty good about going to school up until this year, where it completely accidentally slipped their mind in excitement for the upcoming game.
